About Us...

The objective of the biennial Australian Industrial Hemp Conference is to serve as a national platform for growers, researchers, processors and end-market buyers. Industry participants attend our conference to present and discuss concepts, key issues, hot topics and the latest findings in growing, producing, and the marketing of all types of industrial hemp products.

The AIHC was conceived and designed by its founder Robert Bell to both add value and to assist in the future expansion of the industrial hemp industry and its community.  From its inception, the AIHC has been supported and sponsored by the conferences’ key partners, the Australian Industrial Hemp AllianceAgriFutures and Midlands Seed.  This year, the newly formed national Australian Hemp Council is also involved in the event.

The inaugural AIHC was held in Geelong, Victoria in March 2018 and was hosted by the Industrial Hemp Association of Victoria. The second conference was held in Fremantle, Western Australia in February 2020 and was supported by the Industrial Hemp Western Australia Association (click here to check out the Proceedings of the 2nd Australian Industrial Hemp Conference 2020). The third event will be held in Tasmania – an island that currently produces the majority of the nation’s low-THC cannabis – and is being proudly supported by the peak industry body of that state, the Tasmanian Hemp Association.

The AIHC Organising Committee is led by the founder Robert Bell, along with Event Manager Andi Lucas; representatives from the CSIRO (Stuart Gordon from CSIRO’s Agriculture and Food business unit and Menghe Miao from CSIRO’s Manufacturing business unit), the Australian Industrial Hemp Alliance and the Tasmanian Hemp Association. Major sponsors such as Midlands, AgriFutures and key industry stakeholders like RMIT and Deakin University will also have a voice at the table, with all involved parties playing their part to engage excellent speakers and to arrange worthwhile pre-and-post-event activities, including workshops and field trips.
